Dr. Samuel DeMaio leads Capital Cardiovascular Specialists in coronary and peripheral vascular interventional research. He sits on the Medical Advisory Boards of Johnson & Johnson, Medtronic and Boston Scientific and holds the distinction of being an Opinion Board Leader. He previously served as the Assistant Editor of The American Journal of Cardiology. Dr. DeMaio has participated in all of the key studies for drug-coated stents (a major break through in preventing restenosis (returning scar tissue)) that have led to FDA approval. Dr. DeMaio is currently the only physician in Austin, Texas performing the carotid stent procedure.

Capital Cardiovascular is always aggressively seeking new devices or studies that will help our patients overall cardiovascular health.

Currently, we are in a study investigating the Medtronic’s Endeavor Stent for FDA approval. We will soon participate in the “AAA” Stent Graft, preventing patients from needing “open surgery”.
